LONG BEACH, CALIF. -- Public art scale replicas of Douglas and Boeing aircraft that will be installed in the Douglas Park project. The pieces were made by Patrick Vogel in his SIgnal HIll, Calif. studio. Vogel also installed the 9/11 memorial on top of Signal HIll and the stainless steal representations of a DC-8 vertical stabilizers at the entrance to Douglas Park in Long Beach, Calif. The business park is located at the former home of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. Each of the six structures are almost 24 feet tall and weigh 400 pounds each. NORWALK, CALIF. -- Racer Antron Brown, along with his 7,000-horsepower Matco Tools dragster, visits with automotive students at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif. on February 9, 2010. Brown is a 24-time NHRA winner. He is the only racer in NHRA history to have won races in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Brown will be competing at the 50th annual Winternationals, Feb. 11-14, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona at the L.A. County Fairgrounds.
