Care packages for homeless school children

Representatives from area school districts in the county spent Tuesday afternoon picking up 2,000 care packages that will be distributed to homeless students in their district. The Los Angeles County Office of Education based in Downey teamed up with Feed the Children to to distribute the items in the 2-day event. Among the school districts that participated were, LAUSD, Hawthorne, Lennox, Long Beach, Whittier, Norwalk-La Mirada, Inglewood and Bell Gardens. LACOE claim that nearly 55,000 school children in the county are homeless. The kits included hygiene products, a backpack, food kits and reading books.
