LONG BEACH, CALIF. -- Gilbert Gomez listens as he is sentenced for murder in Long Beach, Calif. on October 8, 2008. Gilbert Gomez, Benjamin Gonzalez and brothers Gerson and Spencer Bazan were convicted last month of stabbing to death Norman Cox, 18, in November of 2006 to further their gang. The four defendants (from a largely Latino gang) jumped Cox and his little brother and cousin (who are black) accusing Cox of being a rival gang member. Cox pushed his brother and cousin out of the way and told them to run, but could not run himself because he was already injured.
